Chanel Ervin was arrested one day after Royal Foster was found fatally stabbed on York Road
BALTIMORE, MD – A 35-year-old Baltimore woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Royal Foster, 49, after police found him mortally wounded on York Road and arrested the suspect one day later.
Baltimore Police identified the suspect as Chanel Ervin of Baltimore.
The case began Wednesday at approximately 7:22 p.m., when Northern District officers responded to the 5200 block of York Road for a reported cutting.
Officers found Foster suffering from an apparent stab wound to his body.
Medics pronounced the 49-year-old dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives took over the investigation and subsequently identified Ervin in connection with Foster’s killing, according to police.
Ervin was taken into custody Thursday, one day after the fatal stabbing.
She was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and later charged with first-degree murder.
Police did not provide additional information about what allegedly led to the stabbing or describe the relationship, if any, between Ervin and Foster.
The department also did not disclose details about how detectives identified Ervin during the investigation.
The charge is an accusation, and Ervin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
