MANHATTAN, N.Y. – A Powerball ticket sold in Midtown Manhattan won a $50,000 third prize in Monday night’s drawing, the New York Lottery announced Tuesday.

Mega News Inc., located at 253 E. 57th St. in Manhattan, sold the $50,000 ticket. It was one of two third-prize-winning Powerball tickets sold across New York for the Aug. 31 drawing.

The second $50,000 ticket was sold at P & N Petroleum in Ancram. Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

East 57th Street Store Sells $50K Ticket

The New York Lottery identified Mega News Inc. as the Manhattan retailer that sold the third-prize ticket following Monday night’s drawing.

The store sits on East 57th Street in Midtown Manhattan. The Lottery announcement identified where the winning ticket was purchased but did not identify the person who bought it.

Powerball uses five white balls drawn from numbers 1 through 69 and a separate red Powerball drawn from numbers 1 through 26.

Two New York Tickets Score $50K Prizes

The Manhattan ticket shared the third-prize spotlight with another ticket sold upstate.

P & N Petroleum at 1012 State Route 82 in Ancram sold the other $50,000 third-prize ticket announced by the New York Lottery.

Powerball drawings take place three times each week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. The New York Lottery reported contributing $3.6 billion to public schools statewide during fiscal year 2025-26.
