NEW YORK, NY – Police in Harlem are investigating after a 69-year-old man was beaten with a cane and robbed a subway station.
The incident occurred on Monday at approximately 7:00 p.m. inside the East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue subway station.
According to the report, a 69-year-old male victim was entering the mezzanine when he was approached from behind by two unidentified individuals.
The assailants struck the victim on the head with a cane before forcibly taking his cell phone. Subsequently, the perpetrators fled the station. The victim sustained a laceration to his face but declined medical assistance.
One suspect was described as a male in his 20s, standing approximately 5’10” tall, and weighing 180 pounds. He has a dark complexion, a thin build, and a beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black baseball hat, a blue t-shirt adorned with an orange butterfly, and light-colored pants.
