Forestville grandmother wins $50K on Jurassic Park scratch-off ticket bought at local 7-Eleven
FORESTVILLE, MD — A Forestville woman struck it big on a $5 scratch-off ticket, winning $50,000 after buying the Jurassic Park-themed game at a neighborhood 7-Eleven, Maryland Lottery officials announced Wednesday.
Angela Martinez-Gomez, a grandmother and Prince George’s County resident, claimed the prize on Tuesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. She discovered her win after scanning her ticket at the store and was immediately met with the surprise of a $50,000 payout.
The winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven located at 3004 Forestville Road. As a bonus, the retailer will receive $500 — 1% of the prize amount — for selling the ticket.
Martinez-Gomez becomes the third top-prize winner of the Jurassic Park scratch-off game since it launched on September 19. Previous winners hailed from Washington, D.C., and Elkridge. Three top prizes of $50,000 remain unclaimed, along with tens of thousands of smaller prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
The scratch-off ticket also includes a second-chance promotion through My Lottery Rewards. Non-winning tickets can be entered for a chance to win a trip to Oahu, Hawaii, where winners will have an opportunity to compete in the $1,000,000 Jackpot Challenge.
Martinez-Gomez plans to use her winnings for dental work and to purchase gifts for her grandchildren.
