Police say the assailant fled after the early-morning attack at DeKalb Avenue
BROOKLYN, NY – A 72-year-old man was punched and knocked to the ground near the turnstiles of a Brooklyn subway station early Tuesday, and the NYPD is now seeking the public’s help identifying the man accused of attacking him and fleeing.
The assault occurred at approximately 1:10 a.m. inside the DeKalb Avenue subway station, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers.
Police said the 72-year-old was near the turnstiles when an unidentified man engaged him.
The man then punched the victim, causing him to fall to the ground, according to police.
The victim suffered minor injuries. Police did not provide additional details about his injuries or say whether he was taken to a hospital.
The assailant fled the station on foot in an unknown direction.
The incident occurred within the NYPD’s 83rd Precinct and Transit District 33.
Police have not disclosed what led to the encounter or announced an arrest.
