Police say suspect punched the victim before fleeing on foot
NEW YORK, N.Y. — A 75-year-old man suffered a fractured eye socket after being punched in an unprovoked assault on a Midtown Manhattan sidewalk, and the suspect remains at large, according to the NYPD.
The attack occurred at approximately 6:28 a.m. Thursday in front of 541 Lexington Avenue within the confines of the 17th Precinct.
Police said the victim was walking when he was approached by an unidentified individual who punched him in the face with a closed fist.
The victim sustained a fractured orbital bone, police said.
The suspect fled on foot, running south on Lexington Avenue toward East 49th Street before disappearing.
The NYPD has released information about the assault and is asking the public to help identify the suspect.
