NEWARK, NJ—The Newark Public Safety Department is seeking assistance in locating 40-year-old Kiki Clark for questioning about an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on Monday, May 13.
The incident took place at approximately 3:55 a.m., where a victim was shot in the leg at an unspecified location. The victim was subsequently transported to University Hospital.
Clark is described as a white female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has urged anyone with information about Clark’s whereabouts to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
All tips received can be anonymous and may qualify for a reward. Information can also be submitted via the Police Division’s website.

About 35 firefighters responded after heavy smoke greeted an employee opening Hot Bagel on Saddle River Road before dawn Tuesday.
FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A worker arriving to open Hot Bagel on Saddle River Road discovered heavy smoke early Tuesday morning, triggering a general alarm response that brought approximately 35 firefighters to the Bergen County business.
The employee called 911 at 3:23 a.m. after encountering the smoke, according to the Fair Lawn Fire Department. Assistant Fire Chief Marc Palmieri reported smoke coming from the business when he arrived and requested a full first-alarm assignment.
Fire Had Spread Into Walls and Ceiling
Firefighters from all four Fair Lawn fire companies responded to the scene. Crews found flames extending into the walls and ceiling, forcing them to open sections of the building to reach and extinguish the fire.
“The fire was quickly knocked down. Thankfully, the worker arrived when it did and called us,” Palmieri said. “Otherwise, if the alarm was delayed much longer the results would have been much worse.”
Palmieri said the first-arriving crews moved quickly after locating the concealed fire.
“Our first arriving units found fire extending into the walls and ceiling,” he said. “They opened the walls and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, the business and the adjacent business experienced moderate damage.”
No Injuries Reported During Response
Officials declared the fire under control approximately 10 minutes after the department arrived. All fire units had cleared the scene by 5 a.m.
Neither the worker nor any firefighters were injured.
The Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Fair Lawn Office of Emergency Management and Fair Lawn Police Department assisted during the response.
The incident adds to recent fire coverage in Bergen County and underscores the importance of promptly reporting smoke or other warning signs inside a business.
Cause Remains Under Investigation
The Fair Lawn Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating what caused the blaze. The bureau conducts fire-safety inspections at approximately 4,500 locations annually and investigates fires and other incidents throughout the borough.
Officials did not immediately announce when Hot Bagel or the neighboring business could reopen. The extent and estimated cost of the damage were also not released.

NEWARK, NJ – A thief slipped into a vehicle on a Newark street in the middle of the night and made off with $200 and three cellphones, with surveillance cameras capturing the suspect during the early-morning burglary.
The theft happened at approximately 3 a.m. Sept. 5 on Dolby Place near Lincoln Street, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Surveillance video captured a male suspect wearing dark clothing entering the victim’s vehicle.
Police said the suspect took $200 in cash, an iPhone 14 and two Samsung Z Fold phones before leaving.
Officials did not provide information about how the suspect gained access to the vehicle or whether it was locked at the time.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. released information about the case Tuesday while asking the public to help identify the suspect.
Police also released an image of the person they are seeking.

Anonymous tips are confidential and could result in a reward, according to the department.

The New Jersey Lottery announced the jackpot-winning ticket Tuesday.
Tamu Food Mart, located at 27 N. Maple Ave. N. in Marlton, sold the winning ticket.
Monday’s winning Jersey Cash 5 numbers were 05, 08, 15, 38 and 41. The Bullseye number was 41 and the XTRA number was 05.
The ticket matched all five numbers to win the $576,830 jackpot.
Tamu Food Mart will receive a $2,000 retailer bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
Another 20 tickets matched four of the five numbers plus the Bullseye, with each winning $500.
Seven of those players had also purchased the XTRA option, multiplying their prizes to $2,500 each.
Following the Monday drawing, the Jersey Cash 5 jackpot reset to $150,000.

- 70-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies After Nighttime Crash at Linden Intersection
The Elizabeth man was taken to Trinitas Regional Medical Center after his Yamaha collided with a Toyota Camry, police said.
LINDEN, N.J. — A 70-year-old Elizabeth man died Monday night after his motorcycle collided with a car at East St. Georges and East Baltimore avenues in Linden, authorities said.
Update: At this time, no charges have been filed, according to police.
Officers responded to the intersection at approximately 8:50 p.m. following reports of a serious crash involving a motorcycle, according to a statement released by the Linden Police Department.
Motorcycle and Toyota collided in intersection
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2009 Toyota Camry collided in the intersection, police said.
The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, where he was pronounced dead.
Police did not release the man’s name in the initial announcement. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators have not disclosed the direction in which either vehicle was traveling, identified the Camry’s driver or said what may have caused the collision. No summonses or charges were announced.
Linden Traffic Bureau leads investigation
The crash remains under investigation by the Linden Police Traffic Bureau.

New Jersey records hundreds of roadway deaths
Preliminary state data showed 368 people had died in 353 crashes across New Jersey through Sept. 14, before Monday night’s Linden collision was reported.
That represented 41 fewer deaths than during the comparable period in 2025, a 10% decrease, according to the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit. The statewide figures cover all fatal motor vehicle crashes, not only motorcycle collisions, and remain subject to revision.

Joseph LaBarbera faces four charges after a roadside confrontation in Stillwater; Republican officials are calling for him to temporarily step aside.
STILLWATER, N.J. — Sussex County Republican Chairman Joseph LaBarbera allegedly pointed a handgun at another driver during a roadside confrontation while the man’s 18-month-old daughter was inside his vehicle, according to charging documents and New Jersey State Police.
LaBarbera, 50, of Hardwick Township, was arrested Saturday, Sept. 12, after troopers investigated a reported road-rage encounter on Millbrook Road.
He faces charges of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, fourth-degree unjustified display of a firearm and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Drivers confronted each other along Millbrook Road
State Police responded at approximately 2:18 p.m. after receiving reports of an incident involving the drivers of a Mercedes-Benz SUV and a Kia SUV.
The Kia driver told investigators that the Mercedes driver had been following closely behind him. He reportedly pulled over to allow the Mercedes to pass, but the Mercedes driver also stopped.
An argument followed.
According to charging documents cited in published reports, LaBarbera allegedly produced a black Sig Sauer P365X handgun and pointed it at the Kia driver. The man’s 18-month-old daughter was inside the Kia at the time.
Neither the driver nor the child was injured.
LaBarbera gave police a different account
LaBarbera reportedly told investigators he had been traveling two or three car lengths behind the Kia when its driver stopped.
He said he pulled over to determine whether the driver needed assistance. LaBarbera alleged that the other driver threatened to shoot him, prompting him to place his hand on his gun and begin removing it from its holster.
State Police later located LaBarbera at a restaurant along County Road 521 in Stillwater and arrested him. He was taken to the Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Republican officials ask chairman to step aside
LaBarbera has chaired the Sussex County Republican Committee since 2023, succeeding longtime chairman Jerry Scanlan.
State Sen. Parker Space, Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia, Assemblyman Michael Inganamort and all five Republican Sussex County commissioners issued a joint statement asking LaBarbera to temporarily relinquish control of the county organization.
“For the good of the party, we believe the chairman should focus on this serious legal and personal matter, step aside, and allow the vice chair to temporarily lead the party and let the county committee make the best long-term decision,” the officials said.
Vice Chairman Billy Marotta would lead the organization during any temporary absence.
Earlier Sussex GOP leader faced a tax case, stolen valor allegations
The earlier criminal case involving a prominent Sussex County Republican official concerned former County Commissioner William “Bill” Hayden. Hayden was charged with filing a fraudulent state tax return after authorities alleged he falsely claimed a veterans’ exemption.
Hayden pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors later offered him admission into New Jersey’s Pretrial Intervention program, conditioned on his forfeiture of public employment, according to local court coverage.
Successful completion of PTI could result in the tax charge being dismissed. Hayden’s case did not involve a firearm.

LaBarbera has been charged but not convicted. All allegations against him remain subject to proof in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
