Utica, NY – On Friday at approximately 12:30 AM, Utica Police and Fire services responded to a call at 822 South St, where a male victim was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach. It was reported that an unidentified suspect wearing a mask had entered the store and shot the man.

The victim was taken to Wynn Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently in critical but stable condition.

During the investigation of this incident, officers received a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple gunshots on Faxton St. Upon arrival, they found a male with gunshot wounds to his back and a female with wounds to her chest. Both were rushed to Wynn Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the 19-year-old female did not survive, while the male remains in stable condition.

At 3:30 AM while still on Faxton St, another ShotSpotter alert was received for multiple shots fired on Howard Ave. Officers found several rounds had been fired into a home. No one was injured, although there were children present at the time. The Utica Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Major Crimes Unit are investigating to determine any connections between the two incidents.
