Essex, Md. — A Baltimore County woman’s love for the Joker’s Wild scratch-off game finally paid off in a big way as she claimed the $50,000 top prize, bringing excitement to the Food Lion in Middle River where she purchased the ticket.

The Essex resident, a frequent player of the $5 game, had long hoped for a top prize win, saying, “One day I am going to win that $50,000.” Her winning ticket matched 10 numbers, each carrying a $5,000 prize. Still in disbelief, she had the ticket checked at the store and was met with cheers from employees celebrating her luck.

“They were all clapping for me,” she told Lottery officials, recalling the moment of excitement.

The winner plans to use her prize to pay off bills and help her family. The Middle River Food Lion, located at 1413 Fuselage Avenue, will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Joker’s Wild, launched on July 22, 2024, has now awarded six $50,000 top prizes, with two top prizes still unclaimed. The game also offers additional prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
