NYC cop arrested in Brooklyn on assault charge

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested Saturday evening in Brooklyn and charged with assault, according to police.

The officer, identified as 32-year-old Orin Blackman, was taken into custody around 7 p.m. within the confines of the 75th Precinct.

Blackman, who is an active-duty member of the NYPD, faces a charge of third-degree assault.

Details surrounding the incident that led to his arrest have not yet been disclosed, and the case remains under investigation.

The NYPD has not commented on Blackman’s arrest or his current employment status with the department.
