TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Firefighters quickly extinguished a residential fire on Weeping Willow Court in the East Dover section of Toms River on Friday afternoon, officials reported.
Crews from East Dover Fire Company, Island Heights Volunteer Fire Co. 1, and Toms River Fire Company 2 responded to the scene at approximately 2:00 p.m. to find smoke and flames emanating from the exterior of a two-story single-family home. Firefighters used a water extinguisher and a 1.75-inch hose line to bring the fire under control, containing the damage to the home’s exterior.
The Toms River Building Department deemed the home unsafe to occupy due to the loss of electrical and gas utilities. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Following an investigation by the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention, the fire was determined to have been caused by a failure of energized electrical equipment on the side of the house. The fire has been ruled accidental.
