Pedestrian killed in late-night crash on Highway 18 in East Brunswick

Police are working to determine the cause of a fatal pedestrian crash that left one person dead on a busy East Brunswick highway.

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred late Wednesday night on Highway 18, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of Highway 18 northbound and South Woodland Drive at approximately 11:57 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and remained on-site following the crash.

Patrolman Patrick Lem of the East Brunswick Police Department Traffic Safety Section is leading the investigation. Officials have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
