Man shot and killed on Benning Road

WASHINGTON, DC – A deadly shooting in Northeast Washington early Monday morning left a 48-year-old man dead, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

At approximately 12:04 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1600 block of Benning Road, Northeast. Upon arrival, they found an unconscious adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Larry Evans, 48, of Northwest DC.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is urged to contact police.
