Georgia Avenue bloodshed claims life of 26-year-old

Man found shot dead on Georgia Avenue in early morning DC homicide

WASHINGTON, DC — A man was discovered fatally shot on a Northwest DC street early Sunday morning, prompting a homicide investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident occurred around 5:47 a.m. in the 3300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. Officers responded to a report of a shooting and found an adult male unconscious and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene by DC Fire and EMS personnel.

The victim was identified as 26-year-old Benjamin Coleman, a resident of Northwest, DC. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named in connection with the killing.

Investigators have not disclosed a possible motive, and it remains unclear whether the shooting was targeted. Detectives are continuing to review surveillance footage and gather witness accounts.
