Woman robbed inside NYC train station

The attack at the East 182-183 train station remains under investigation as police search for the suspect who fled with the victim’s cash and phone.

BRONX, N.Y. — A woman was robbed Monday evening inside the East 182-183 train station after an unidentified man approached her requesting to use her phone, according to police.

The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. when the 49-year-old victim was walking through the station’s mezzanine. Police reported that after she declined the request, a dispute broke out between the two.

During the altercation, the suspect kicked the woman multiple times and forcibly took an undisclosed amount of cash along with her cell phone from her pocket. The suspect then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, authorities said.

Police confirmed that the victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident and declined medical attention at the scene.

As of Friday, the suspect remains at large and police have not released any surveillance footage or description of the individual.

Investigation continues as search for suspect intensifies

Authorities are reviewing video footage from the station and nearby areas in an effort to identify and locate the suspect. Investigators have also urged any witnesses to come forward with information that could aid the investigation.

Transit police increased patrols in the area following the incident to reassure commuters and gather additional details.

Officials have not indicated whether the robbery was part of a larger pattern of incidents in the area. The NYPD continues to investigate and is pursuing all leads.
