SMYRNA, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested a 17-year-old from Georgetown and a 14-year-old from Dover on Thursday after an armed carjacking in Smyrna led to a vehicle and foot pursuit.

Police responded around 6 a.m. to Berry Drive, where a man reported being carjacked at gunpoint. According to investigators, the victim had given two unknown males a ride to the Holly Hill Estates area in his Mazda CX-5. Upon arrival, one suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim while the other restrained him and demanded the keys.

The suspects fled in the Mazda after the victim complied.

Dover Police officers later spotted the stolen vehicle in Dover and attempted a traffic stop. A pursuit followed, during which the two suspects were taken into custody. Officers also recovered a firearm and ammunition during the arrest.

Authorities confirmed the suspects are a 17-year-old male from Georgetown and a 14-year-old male from Dover. Both were charged with robbery and theft-related offenses.

The case remains under investigation.
