Two $50K Powerball tickets sold in Hornell and Newburgh for Tuesday drawing

HORNELL, NY – Two New Yorkers each scored a $50,000 payday after picking up third-prize-winning Powerball tickets for Tuesday night’s drawing — one purchased at a supermarket in Hornell and the other at a convenience store in Newburgh.

According to the New York Lottery, the lucky tickets were sold at Wegmans, located at 1000 State Route 36 North in Hornell, and at Smokes 4 Less, located at 59 North Plank Road in Newburgh.

The winning numbers were drawn at 10:59 p.m. Tuesday as part of the regular Powerball schedule, which includes drawings every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The $50,000 prize is awarded to tickets that match four numbers plus the red Power Ball.

Officials did not confirm whether the prizes have been claimed as of Thursday.

All lottery prizes in New York must be claimed within one year from the date of the drawing.

The New York Lottery continues to generate significant revenue for the state, contributing $3.6 billion in the latest fiscal year to benefit public education.
