Police seek suspect in groping incident near West 10th Street in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Detectives are searching for a man accused of groping a woman on a Bensonhurst street earlier this month before fleeing the area on foot.

According to police, the incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on September 12, when a 43-year-old woman was walking near West 10th Street and Highlawn Avenue. An unidentified male approached, grabbed the victim’s breast, and ran southbound on Highlawn Avenue toward an unknown location.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, black sneakers, and carrying a multicolored backpack. The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.

A midday walk turned unsettling in Bensonhurst — and police say help from the public could bring answers.
