CONCORD, NH – A 73-year-old man has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder following the discovery of two women shot to death inside a Bath home, according to New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella and the New Hampshire State Police.
Police responded around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday to a 911 call reporting gunfire at 11 Tyler Way in Bath.
When officers from the Bath Police Department arrived, they found 67-year-old Cindy Moody and her 39-year-old daughter, Kristal Moody, both dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
At the scene, officers located Cindy Moody’s brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Readey, who was armed with a firearm but was safely taken into custody after a brief encounter.
Murder charges filed after deaths ruled suspicious
Authorities say an arrest warrant has been issued charging Readey with two counts of second-degree murder for allegedly causing the deaths of the two women. Autopsies are scheduled to be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to confirm cause and manner of death.
Investigation continues under state supervision
Attorney General Formella said an arraignment will be scheduled once court proceedings are arranged. Officials emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that all charges are merely allegations at this stage.
