WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – Community engagement took center stage today as Chief O’Halloran and Detective Honecker of the Wall Township Police Department met with the Pride of Wall Seniors group during their bi-monthly meeting at Town Hall.
The session, organized by the Wall Youth Center, focused on current crime trends and the growing number of scams targeting older residents.
Chief O’Halloran and Detective Honecker discussed methods criminals use to deceive victims—such as phone impersonation, tech support fraud, and fake investment schemes—while emphasizing how seniors can stay alert and protect their personal information.
Department stresses prevention through awareness
Officials urged attendees to be cautious about unsolicited calls, requests for payment through gift cards, or online messages seeking sensitive data. They also highlighted the importance of reporting suspicious activity immediately to local law enforcement.
Building trust between police and residents
The Pride of Wall Seniors meeting is one of several community outreach efforts aimed at connecting police with residents and promoting transparency. The department said it will continue to partner with civic groups to strengthen public safety education.
