Teen arrested in fatal shooting of 16-year-old in Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 17-year-old male is facing murder charges after police say he opened fire during a daylight shooting that left a 16-year-old dead and a young woman wounded in Northeast Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 3:54 p.m. near Teesdale and Frontenac Streets.

Officers arrived to find 16-year-old Xzavier Gregory unresponsive from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:12 p.m.

Second victim found blocks away

A second victim, an 18-year-old woman, was discovered inside a laundromat on the 1700 block of Glendale Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the ankle. Police said she was hospitalized in stable condition.

Arrest made after weekend investigation

On Monday morning, homicide detectives and SWAT officers arrested 17-year-old Sahhir Mouzon of the 18XX block of Corlies Street in connection with the shooting.

Mouzon has been charged with murder, recklessly endangering another person, and multiple firearms violations.

Investigation continues as police question others

Authorities said several individuals who were present during the arrest were taken to the Homicide Unit for questioning about their possible involvement, though no additional charges have been filed.
