Gunman puts weapon to woman’s head in terrifying NYC subway stickup

BROOKLYN, NY – A woman was held at gunpoint inside the 86 Street subway station Wednesday morning in a brazen daylight robbery that sent commuters scrambling.

The 57-year-old victim was approached from behind by an unidentified man just after 11 a.m. as she stood inside the station.

Police said the suspect pressed a black firearm to her head and demanded her belongings before fleeing.

The gunman ran from the subway, mounted a maroon bicycle, and rode west on West 88th Street.

No injuries were reported in the frightening encounter, which unfolded amid the late-morning rush.

Suspect description released

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a gray hat, dark coat, blue jeans, and gray sneakers.

Police seek public’s help

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the station and surrounding area as they search for leads in the case. Authorities urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify and apprehend the suspect.
