Man critically wounded in roadway shooting near Sprague Street

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 22-year-old man was gunned down Tuesday evening in a burst of gunfire near the 5500 block of Sprague Street.

The shooting erupted around 6:26 p.m., leaving the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to several parts of his body.

He was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where doctors listed him in critical condition.

Investigators flooded the scene as officers blocked traffic and searched for evidence along the roadway.

Police confirmed no arrests have been made and no weapon has been recovered from the scene.

Gunfire erupts on busy stretch

Witnesses told officers they heard multiple shots before seeing a man collapse near the shoulder of the highway. Detectives marked several shell casings scattered across the area as the investigation unfolded.

Investigation continues

The Shooting Investigation Group is leading the probe into the attack as authorities work to identify a suspect and determine a motive. Police have not yet released a description of anyone involved.
