MANHATTAN, NY – A teenage girl’s subway ride took a disturbing turn Wednesday afternoon when a man allegedly exposed himself aboard a northbound 4 train near Union Square.

Police said the 16-year-old victim was sitting on the train around 3:49 p.m. as it approached the 14 Street–Union Square Station when an unidentified man walked up and exposed himself.

The teen quickly exited the train at the station while the suspect stayed onboard as it continued north.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

NYPD investigating incident

Police are searching for the suspect, described as a man in his 50s with a light complexion, standing about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing roughly 250 pounds. Detectives are reviewing station and train surveillance footage to identify the individual.

Transit officials urge vigilance

MTA officials condemned the incident and urged riders to report lewd conduct immediately to transit personnel or through the MTA’s incident reporting system. The NYPD’s Transit Bureau has increased patrols and visibility across subway lines following recent reports of similar behavior.
