Roseville man forgets winning ticket at home and hits $500K on a second try

Roseville, OH – What started as a forgotten $50 lottery ticket turned into a half-million-dollar jackpot for one Roseville man, whose decision to buy another scratch-off on the spot led to a life-changing win.

The man had originally won $50 playing the Best of 7’s scratch-off game but left the ticket at home before heading out to redeem it. Instead of returning, he decided to buy another ticket from the same game at South 60 Market, located at 2040 S. River Road in Zanesville. After scratching the new ticket in his car, he discovered he had won $500,000.

The winning number was 13 — a number the man said holds special meaning, as it’s also the number he uses for dirt car racing. After initially calling his wife, who didn’t believe him, his son confirmed the win using the Ohio Lottery app.

The winner opted for the lump-sum cash prize. After the required 27.125% in state and federal tax withholdings, he will receive $364,375. He told lottery officials the prize would allow him to pay off his house, purchase a new vehicle, and reduce his work schedule from seven days a week to spend more time with family.

The Best of 7’s is a $10 scratch-off ticket that offers 60 chances to win. As of Tuesday, one top prize and two second-tier prizes remain.
