Killer fugitive busted at dawn after manhunt in Cumberland

Convicted killer wanted for probation violation captured after manhunt in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD – A 60-year-old man with a homicide conviction and a history of threatening law enforcement was taken into custody Tuesday morning after a coordinated tactical operation in Cumberland ended with his arrest.

Timothy R. Deadrick, of Cumberland, was the subject of an active arrest warrant issued after he violated probation by getting arrested for drug possession on October 25. That probation stemmed from a 1990 homicide conviction in Montgomery County, Maryland.

On Monday, November 3, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office notified Allegany County deputies of the warrant. Because of Deadrick’s violent past and reported threats against police, the Allegany County Special Operation Response Team (S.O.R.T.) was mobilized.

At around 7 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, S.O.R.T., working with the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, Maryland State Police, and MSP Trooper 5 helicopter unit, located Deadrick. After a brief pursuit, he was apprehended and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center.

He is currently awaiting transfer to Montgomery County to face the probation violation and any additional charges.
