Ohio woman wins over $58K after accidental scratch-off purchase leads to Cash Explosion jackpot

Minster, OH – A slip of the finger at a self-service lottery kiosk turned into a five-figure windfall for a Minster woman who ended up winning big on the Ohio Lottery’s Cash Explosion® game.

Nancy, a local resident, mistakenly selected the wrong scratch-off ticket but ended up with a Cash Explosion entry that secured her a spot on the televised game show. Her appearance led to a series of wins totaling $58,285.

During her time on the show, she scored $7,500 and claimed a Ticket Jackpot in the first round, which wasn’t enough to qualify for the main Cash Challenge—but she advanced to the Second Chance round. There, her name was drawn three times, earning her an additional $50,000 prize.

After returning home, Nancy still had $1,000 worth of Win It All tickets to scratch as part of her winnings. Taking her time, she revealed another $785 in prizes from those tickets.

She and her husband plan to use the money to build a first-floor owner’s suite addition on their home.

Nancy’s winning ticket was purchased at Wagners IGA, located at 257 E 4th Street in Minster.

The Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to public education since its founding in 1974, with every ticket sold helping support schools across the state.
