Cumberland woman arrested after alleged mass violence threat leads to police raid

Cumberland, MD – A large police operation unfolded Monday morning on Oldtown Road after authorities launched an investigation into an alleged threat of mass violence overnight.

The Cumberland Police Department confirmed the arrest of a local woman connected to the case.

Maria Mastropasqua was taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant in the 1500 block of Oldtown Road.

According to police, the search was carried out by members of the Cumberland Police Department, the Allegany County Combined Investigative Unit, and the Cumberland Emergency Response Team.

Law enforcement said the coordinated response stemmed from a reported threat made overnight that prompted swift investigative action.

Officials emphasized that there is currently no threat to the public, though residents may notice an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

Mastropasqua has been transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where she awaits her initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
