Man charged in Columbia Heights knife robbery after early morning street attack
Washington, DC – A man is facing armed robbery charges after police say he pulled a knife and robbed a pedestrian on a Columbia Heights sidewalk in the early hours of October 2.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was walking near the 1800 block of Columbia Road NW at approximately 3:10 a.m. when the suspect approached, threatened him with a knife, and stole personal belongings before fleeing the area.
Following an investigation, 31-year-old Samora Samson Buchanan of Northwest DC was arrested on Tuesday, December 9. He has been charged with Armed Robbery (Knife) under a DC Superior Court booking order.
Police have not released further details regarding what was stolen or how Buchanan was identified as the suspect. There were no reported injuries during the robbery, and it is unclear whether Buchanan is connected to any additional incidents in the area.
Court proceedings are expected to begin this week. The case remains under investigation.
