PHILADELPHIA, PA – A man was shot in the leg Thursday night after gunfire broke out on a North Philadelphia block, sending him running for help before his girlfriend rushed him to the hospital.
The shooting happened just before 9:30 p.m. near 30th and Huntingdon Streets, according to police.
The victim, whose name has not been released, arrived at Temple University Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Authorities said the man was standing outside a friend’s residence on the 2600 block of North Stanley Street when three unknown males walked northbound toward him moments before the shots rang out.
He told investigators he realized he had been hit as bullets flew, then ran west on Oakdale Street to escape.
Victim fled scene before being driven to hospital
The man’s girlfriend picked him up on Oakdale Street and took him to Temple University Hospital, where doctors treated a single gunshot wound to his leg. Police have not disclosed the exact number of shots fired or whether shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Officers from the 22nd District responded quickly after hearing the gunfire while patrolling nearby, but no suspects were located. Detectives from the Shooting Investigation Group have taken over the case.
Police seeking three unidentified males
Investigators are searching for three men seen walking on Stanley Street just before the shooting. No arrests have been made, and officials have not identified a motive.
Police are asking anyone with surveillance footage or information about the gunfire to contact the Shooting Investigation Group.
