San Antonio, TX – Robert Adrian Aparicio, 34, was arrested following a lengthy investigation into a fatal stabbing incident from January. He faces a charge of murder in the first degree, according to Bexar County court records.
The incident occurred on January 12, when Christopher Renteria, 39, was found by police outside a residence on Montezuma Street, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders transported Renteria to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries on May 26.
Initially, the investigation focused on a charge of aggravated assault; however, that charge was upgraded to homicide following the victim’s death. While being treated at the hospital, Renteria informed an officer that a man named “Robert” had assaulted him.
Witnesses at the scene corroborated Renteria’s statement, claiming that the stabbing resulted from a dispute over stolen hair clippers. They reported that Renteria had broken the window of Aparicio’s red Ford Ranger during the argument.
Aparicio then allegedly retrieved a knife from his truck and pursued Renteria, stabbing him multiple times when Renteria fell to the ground. Surveillance footage captured the incident and provided crucial evidence, including a partial license plate and descriptions of Aparicio’s clothing.
On November 20, police identified Aparicio when a photograph was taken of a man matching the description while loading tree limbs into his truck at an apartment complex. Law enforcement located his phone number after responding to a Craigslist advertisement.
The two witnesses identified Aparicio in a photo lineup on November 21. He was arrested on Thursday morning and is currently held in Bexar County Jail with a bond set at $350,000.
