Detectives link 22-year-old suspect to multiple assaults and robberies targeting victims on their way to work and school.
BALTIMORE, MD – A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies and assaults that spanned several neighborhoods in Baltimore, authorities announced. The suspect, identified as Tyreek Leach of Baltimore, was taken into custody following a recent incident that helped police connect him to multiple earlier crimes.
Investigators said Leach is responsible for a string of robberies committed between November 6 and December 8 across the Southeast, Southern, and Eastern police districts. Victims in several of the cases reported being approached and robbed at gunpoint while traveling to work or school.
Police linked Leach to robberies and assaults at six separate locations: the 4000 block of Sinclair Lane, the 1000 block of Edison Highway, the 500 block of North Highland Avenue, the 1500 block of Covington Street, the 1700 block of Windemere Avenue, and the 3200 block of The Alameda.
Leach’s arrest came on December 8, shortly after a robbery in the 1700 block of Windemere Avenue. Detectives who responded to the scene gathered evidence that tied him to the broader pattern of incidents reported in recent weeks.
Investigation connects multiple incidents
Robbery detectives used surveillance footage, victim statements, and physical evidence to link Leach to each of the targeted areas. The series of offenses shared similar characteristics, including the use of a weapon and the selection of victims during early morning hours. Authorities believe the same suspect acted alone in each case.
Following his arrest, Leach was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was charged with multiple counts of robbery, assault, and related offenses. Police said additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
Police continue community safety efforts
The Baltimore Police Department urged residents to remain alert when traveling, particularly during early morning and evening hours. Officers have increased patrols in affected areas and are continuing to review other recent robbery cases for possible connections.
