Randallstown woman’s scratch-off ritual lands her $100K Red 5’s Doubler jackpot

Baltimore, MD — A Randallstown woman’s personal scratch-off strategy of buying the first 10 tickets in a pack just delivered a $100,000 win, proving her approach lucky once again — even if not statistically sound.

The Baltimore County winner claimed the top-tier prize on Wednesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters, after purchasing tickets numbered 1 through 10 in the new $10 Red 5’s Doubler game from Pantry One at 5100 Old Court Rd. The game only launched on December 5, and her prize marks the second of nine $100,000 winners to be claimed so far.

The player, who had stopped by the store to cash in a smaller win, decided to stick with her usual tactic and picked up the first 10 tickets in a fresh pack. Rather than scratching the entire ticket, she scanned each one using the QR code — a method she prefers for speed. When the terminal displayed a winning message, she assumed it was another modest prize.

Instead, the cashier informed her she had just hit $100,000.

The stunned winner said the timing couldn’t be better as she nears retirement and works to improve her financial footing. Known in her community for helping others using her own money, she plans to continue her charitable efforts while enjoying a more stable retirement.

Pantry One also wins in the process, receiving a $1,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.

There are still seven unclaimed $100,000 prizes remaining in the Red 5’s Doubler game.
