Man arrested after Leominster standoff ends with woman found dead

Worcester, MA – A multi-hour standoff at a Leominster home ended with a man in custody and a woman pronounced dead, prompting an ongoing homicide investigation by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident unfolded Friday afternoon when a 911 call led responders to a residence on Union Street in Leominster at about 2:55 p.m., according to District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. What followed was a prolonged standoff involving multiple law enforcement units before a suspect was taken into custody.

After the standoff concluded, a woman was located inside the residence and pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity has not been released. Authorities did not disclose the cause of death or details about the relationship between the man and the victim.

The arrest was carried out with the assistance of the Leominster Police Department, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, the State Police Special Tactical Operations Unit, K-9 units, and the Crisis Negotiation Unit.

The man taken into custody has not yet been publicly identified and is expected to be arraigned Monday in Leominster District Court. No charges were announced at the time of the release.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remains active.
