Man dies days after November crash in Northeast DC police confirm

WASHINGTON, DC – A man who was hospitalized after a traffic collision in Northeast DC late last year has died from injuries sustained in the crash, police announced Wednesday following confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 24, 2025, around 5:31 p.m., when officers from the Fifth District responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash in the Unit block of Irving Street NE.

According to the preliminary investigation, a silver 2017 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on Irving Street when the driver lost consciousness and struck the rear of a black 2014 Honda Accord. The Hyundai then mounted a curb and collided with a utility pole.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the driver of the Hyundai to a local hospital with injuries. He remained hospitalized until he was pronounced dead on Friday, November 28, 2025.

On January 8, 2026, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner officially determined that the man’s death was the result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Leroy Farrow of Northeast, D.C.

The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit. No additional injuries were reported, and no charges have been announced.
