DUI arrest made following Stafford Lakes Parkway crash

Stafford, VA – A crash investigation Friday evening resulted in a DUI arrest after deputies observed signs of intoxication in one of the drivers involved.

Deputy I. E. Baldi responded to Stafford Lakes Parkway near Warrenton Road at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. One driver displayed glassy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverages, deputies said.

The driver was identified as Richard Laryea, 54, of Stafford. He was charged with driving under the influence with an elevated blood alcohol content, failure to maintain control, following too closely, and failure to obey a traffic signal. Laryea was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
