South Jersey man killed in violent altercation on North Second Street

MILLVILLE, NJ – Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a 35-year-old Millville man died from injuries sustained during an altercation at a North Second Street residence Thursday night, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said the victim, identified as Detyren Hatch of East Broad Street, was transported to Inspira Hospital in Vineland shortly before 9 p.m. on February 16. Hatch had suffered severe injuries during a confrontation that occurred at a home in the 500 block of North Second Street.

Medical personnel later transferred Hatch to Cooper Hospital in Camden, where he succumbed to his injuries. Detectives from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Millville Police Department are jointly investigating the incident.

Detectives seek witnesses in fatal Millville altercation

Investigators have not yet disclosed the nature of the altercation or whether any suspects are in custody. The prosecutor’s office said the case remains active and ongoing, with law enforcement working to piece together what led to the fatal confrontation.
