DC cops nab teen in twin grab and run robberies

Man arrested in pair of cash-register grab robberies in Northwest DC

Washington, DC – A 19-year-old man was arrested after two February robberies at businesses on 9th Street NW, where a suspect entered each location, grabbed cash from open registers, and fled before officers arrived.

The incidents occurred on Feb. 4 at 3:57 p.m. and Feb. 13 at 3:58 p.m., both in the 1900 block of 9th Street NW. In each case, money was taken directly from an open register before the suspect fled the scene.

Detectives located and arrested Kirey Myers, 19, of Southeast DC, on Feb. 15. He was charged with two counts of robbery.

The Metropolitan Police Department noted assistance from the Metro Transit Police Department during the apprehension.
