Brighton woman lands $1 million lottery prize from neighborhood store ticket

BOSTON, MA – A Brighton resident turned a local store visit into a major payout after winning a $1 million prize from a Massachusetts State Lottery scratch-off ticket.

Lottery officials said Sonia Ortiz claimed the prize playing the $4,000,000 Cash King Doubler instant ticket game. She chose the cash option, receiving a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes.

The winning ticket was purchased at Father and Son Market, located at 1437 Commonwealth Avenue in Brighton.

The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Ortiz said she plans to use the winnings to help her family.

The Cash King Doubler game is one of several instant ticket offerings available statewide, with prizes distributed randomly.
