Teen gunned down in Northeast DC as police uncover second crime scene
Washington, DC — A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in Northeast D.C. Thursday evening, with investigators later discovering a separate nearby crime scene marked by gunfire damage to parked vehicles.
Officers responded around 5:15 p.m. to the 5300 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue Northeast for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a juvenile male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was unconscious but breathing when first responders arrived.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Kenzell Locust of Northeast, was transported to a local hospital, where he later died despite lifesaving efforts.
During the investigation, police located an additional crime scene in the 500 block of 55th Street Northeast. Authorities reported that two unoccupied parked vehicles in that area had been struck by gunfire.
No suspect information has been released as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
