Georgia fugitive hauled back to Trenton in attempted murder shooting case
TRENTON, NJ — A man tracked down by U.S. Marshals in Georgia and another suspect arrested in New Jersey are now facing attempted homicide charges after a shooting in Trenton left a 32-year-old man hospitalized in critical but stable condition, authorities said.
The investigation began Friday, March 21, at about 9:52 p.m. after Trenton police received a ShotSpotter alert reporting seven rounds fired near 191 Oakland Street.
Responding officers searched the area for victims and suspects while learning that a 32-year-old man had already arrived at Capital Health Regional Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police said the victim was listed in critical but stable condition.
Mercer County Shooting Response Team detectives later identified 32-year-old Thomas Rogers and 35-year-old Kyheam Henigan as the suspects in the case.
Authorities said Rogers was taken into custody without incident, while Henigan was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Georgia.
Both men are awaiting a first appearance in Superior Court.
The suspects were charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault by pointing a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon.
