Maryland State Police are asking homeowners and drivers to check surveillance footage that could help identify what happened during an early morning assault and shooting.
CALIFORNIA, MD — Maryland State Police are asking residents to review home security and dash camera footage after an assault and reports of gunfire in the Wildewood community earlier this week.
Troopers from the Leonardtown Barrack responded at about 1:30 a.m. Monday to the Wildewood Community Center, located at 23060 Wildewood Drive, for a report of an assault and shots fired.
The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division is leading the investigation.
Investigators are asking anyone in the Wildewood community with home surveillance cameras to review recordings from around the time of the incident. Troopers are also asking motorists who were driving in the area and have dash cameras to check their footage for anything that may assist the investigation.
Police have not released additional details about the assault or whether any injuries or arrests have been reported.
