Point Pleasant, NJ – Kaitlyn Tracey, the Canadian woman accused of assaulting a teenager wearing pro-Trump clothing on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk earlier this summer, has been transferred from New Jersey to the Laredo Processing Center in Texas, according to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement online detainee locator.
ICE records list Tracey as being in ICE custody at the Laredo Processing Center, a federal immigration detention facility located in Laredo, Texas. She had previously been held at Delaney Hall, the ICE detention facility in Newark, following her arrest in New Jersey.
Charged after alleged boardwalk assault
Tracey was arrested after authorities alleged she confronted and physically assaulted a teenage girl on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk because he was wearing clothing supporting President Donald Trump.
According to investigators, the incident escalated into a physical altercation that was captured on video and widely circulated online, drawing national attention. Authorities charged Tracey with offenses related to the alleged assault, and the case quickly became a flashpoint in political discussions on social media.
The criminal charges remain pending, and DHS says it will deport Tracey based on her actions and illegal stay in the United States.
Case led to immigration enforcement
Following her arrest, federal immigration authorities placed an immigration detainer on Tracey, a Canadian citizen.
She was subsequently taken into ICE custody and initially housed at Delaney Hall in Newark. ICE’s detainee locator now shows she has been transferred to the Laredo Processing Center in Texas.
The reason for the transfer has not been publicly disclosed by ICE.
