Police say warrants stemmed from missed court appearances and alleged pretrial release violation
CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland woman is being held without bond after police arrested her on three active bench warrants tied to missed court appearances and an alleged violation of her pretrial release conditions.
The Cumberland Police Department said officers arrested 26-year-old Mikia Corinne Meade on Thursday.
According to police, one of the warrants was issued by the Allegany County Circuit Court on May 20, alleging Meade violated the terms of her pretrial release in connection with a home invasion case.
A second bench warrant was issued June 4 by the Allegany County District Court after Meade allegedly failed to appear for a court hearing on a controlled dangerous substances paraphernalia charge.
Police said a third bench warrant was issued by the Circuit Court on July 21 after Meade allegedly failed to appear for another court proceeding related to the home invasion case.
Following her arrest, Meade appeared before a District Court commissioner for an initial appearance and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center.
She is being held without bond.
The allegations contained in the warrants have not been proven in court, and Meade is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
