Maryland driver accused of attacking officer during dwi arrest — handcuff

Traffic stop spirals into multiple felony-related charges

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A Maryland woman stopped on Interstate 195 for suspected impaired driving now faces several additional charges after police said she resisted arrest and assaulted an officer.

Wall Township police said Patrolman Clint Forgach stopped Angela Symme Gilbert, 59, on Aug. 4 at approximately 10:38 p.m.

Gilbert was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police also charged her with resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction and hindering.

She was charged on a summons and released in accordance with John’s Law.

The charges are allegations, and Gilbert is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
