Ruffs Dale store sells six-figure winner with $975 million jackpot still untouched
RUFFS DALE, PA – Powerball lightning struck Westmoreland County Monday night when a ticket sold at Rutter’s landed a $150,000 prize, putting a six-figure win in Ruffs Dale before another shot at the game’s staggering $975 million jackpot.
The Pennsylvania Lottery announced the winning ticket Tuesday.
Rutter’s at 641 Waltz Mill Road in Ruffs Dale sold the $150,000 ticket for Monday’s drawing.
The ticket matched four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball.
Monday’s white numbers were 6, 37, 54, 55 and 64. The Powerball was 10.
That combination carries a standard $50,000 prize.
The ticket, however, had Power Play.
The optional feature costs an additional $1 per play, and Monday’s Power Play multiplier was 3X.
That multiplier tripled the Westmoreland County ticket’s prize from $50,000 to $150,000 before applicable withholding.
Rutter’s will also receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The Pennsylvania Lottery does not know the identity of the ticket holder until the prize is claimed and validated.
The ticket holder has one year from Monday’s drawing to claim the $150,000.
More than 102,200 other Pennsylvania Powerball tickets collected prizes of varying amounts Monday.
More than 23,400 winning tickets included Power Play, while more than 12,700 included Double Play.
Nobody won the Powerball jackpot Monday night.
That sent the estimated jackpot to $975 million for Wednesday’s drawing, with an estimated $422.3 million cash value.
The prize currently ranks eighth among the largest Powerball jackpots in the game’s history.
Wednesday night’s drawing will be the 44th consecutive drawing in the current jackpot run.
The jackpot was last won May 2, when tickets purchased in Florida and Texas split a $20 million grand prize.
