CUMBERLAND, Md. – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a train Sunday night at the Baltimore Street railroad crossing in Cumberland, police said.
Cumberland police and firefighters were called to the crossing at about 9:09 p.m. The person who was struck was pronounced dead, and the body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
Police have not released the victim’s identity or provided details about what happened in the moments before the collision.
Investigators Looking for Witnesses
The Combined Criminal Investigation Unit, known as C3I, is investigating the death.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw the incident or may have information about the circumstances leading up to it. Witnesses can contact C3I at 301-777-0326.
