WEST TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey State Police recently turned the spotlight toward the civilian employees whose work helps keep the statewide law enforcement agency running.
The recognition event was held at the Outdoor Health and Wellness Center at Division Headquarters in West Trenton. It brought civilian personnel together for food, games and a formal show of appreciation from the agency.
Civilian Employees Support Daily Police Operations
Civilian personnel work across administrative, professional and specialized positions within the Division. They serve alongside enlisted members and provide support for operations conducted throughout New Jersey.
Those responsibilities can include office administration, technology, communications, analytical work and other professional services. Civilian public safety telecommunicators, for example, process emergency calls and dispatch State Police patrols from communications centers around the state.
“Their contributions are integral to what allows the State Police to carry out our mission and effectively serve the communities of New Jersey,” the agency said.
State Police Thank Workers Often Outside Public View
The event gave agency leaders and enlisted personnel an opportunity to recognize employees whose contributions frequently happen away from traffic stops, crash scenes and other visible police activity.
The New Jersey State Police thanked its civilian workforce for the knowledge, experience and daily commitment its employees bring to the Division.
“We are grateful for all their dedication and the role they play every day,” State Police said in its announcement following the event.

The appreciation gathering is part of the agency’s broader effort to recognize the people working behind the scenes to support public safety in New Jersey.
