Officers initially found no crime scene before the wounded 39-year-old approached them on Myrtle Avenue
BALTIMORE, MD – A 39-year-old woman walked up to Baltimore officers Monday morning and told them she had been shot after police responding to a ShotSpotter alert initially searched the area and found no crime scene.
Western District officers responded to the 1000 block of Myrtle Avenue at approximately 6:09 a.m. after ShotSpotter detected possible gunfire, according to Baltimore Police.
Officers arrived at the location associated with the alert but did not locate a crime scene.
A short time later, the 39-year-old woman approached the officers and reported that she had been shot.
Police said the woman suffered a gunshot wound to her hand.
She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Baltimore Police did not provide information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting or say whether investigators determined where the woman was wounded.
No suspect description or arrest was announced in the initial advisory.
