PISCATAWAY, NJ – On Saturday, Piscataway Police arrested three suspects in relation to a series of car burglaries on Jerome Street and Quincy Street.
The initial arrest happened around 3:00 AM, when a resident received a surveillance notification and subsequently reported suspicious activity to the police. Upon reviewing the footage, a male was seen rummaging through her parked vehicle while another male stood at the door.
While police were still at the scene, a second call came in from Quincy Street about four males pulling on car door handles. Patrol officers, en route to Quincy Street, noticed the suspects running along Florence Avenue. After a call from a Florence Avenue resident about intruders in her shed, Officers Salvatore and Ward located three of the suspects hiding there.
All three suspects were from Plainfield, NJ. Two of them, both 18 years old, were charged with Burglary and Hindering Apprehension. They were released on summonses. The third suspect, a 16-year-old, was charged with similar offenses and released to his mother.
Further investigation led the Detective Bureau to identify additional victims on Brunella Avenue, Quincy Street, and Muriel Avenue. The suspects were subsequently charged with multiple counts of Burglary, Theft of Movable Property, Criminal Attempt, and Defiant Trespassing. If anyone has further information, they are asked to contact Detective Sean Morelli at 732-562-2355.
